The Museum of History in Granite is located in Felicity, CA.  Not too  far west of Yuma, AZ.  Like most places in the  area, it is closed during the hot summer.  Actually it does not open until after Thanksgiving.  But I really wanted to see it while we were in the area, so I called and left a message, thinking “what could it hurt to try?”  Well, I was thrilled to get a response!  We were welcome to go and check it out!  So we did!

Yes, you read that right.  This is the official center of the world.  I’m sure you have as many questions as we did.

So I did some digging and found an interesting article HERE.

It is fun to read what some imagination and perseverance can do!

It would be easy to keep reading and lose track of time here.

The museum is not yet completed.  We did see many granite slabs that were blank.  I also read about plans for further expansion.

But, as is, their website says it would take 6 hours to read all the panels.

The “Church on the Hill” was completed in 2002.  It was engineered on a 150,000 ton “hill of prayer”  to be the highest building in town.

This pyramid houses the recognized center point of the world.

It just goes to show, you never know what you might find.  Even in the middle of the barren desert 😉
