Andalusia has many little “white sugar cube” villages.  This beautiful village set on a hillside is full of character from the detailed Moorish black and white cobblestone roads, to the potted plants, Mediterranean views, little shops, and cafes.  We spent a warm sunny day wandering around to see what we could find, and we fell in love.  The people we spoke to were so warm and friendly.  The views, extraordinary.  And the village atmosphere was peaceful and welcoming.  I was inspired with my photography, and also feeling inspired to paint.  We are feeling so happy to spend the winter here, learn Spanish, meet new friends, and eat good food!  This is a special place, indeed!

We climb up and down many steps everyday when getting to and from our apartment.  This is going to keep our legs in great shape!  It is amazing to see how quickly the locals can get around.

After siesta, we took a stroll around and the evening sun cast a warm glow on everything.  Do you know that feeling when you are in the right place at the right time?  Ahhh, paradise!  Maybe you should come visit.  For many years I looked at pictures from around the world and wished and dreamed and planned.  Let me tell you, it feels damn good to be the one taking pictures of amazing places!

  1. So glad you landed in a clean, warm, safe place and you don’t have to do insane amounts of paperwork to be there either. Yes, I’m jealous!

  3. Love the pictures! Yes, the place does look amazing. And it’s just one letter off from the city that Giselle comes from in the movie, Enchanted: Andalasia, her fairytale wonderful home, and now yours for the next few months. Are rents comparable to the U.S.?

Nancy, be sure to have Dave take a few pictures that YOU get to be in too, OK? I’m usually the photographer in our family too and are rarely seen in any pictures. Say, did you guys buy the guerrilla pod? That’s a really good way to get to be in more of the pictures whether Dave wants to take them or not. 🙂

Will you guys bother to celebrate Thanksgiving next week with a traditional or non-traditional meal? Just curious.

    Have a terrific day!

  4. This is a very pretty place. I’m sure anyone would love to be “living the dream” That last picture looks like it could be from a travel magazine. Good job.
