Like the European snow birds, we have been working our way south for the winter.  Blue sky, warm breezes, palm trees, and the Mediterranean!  Yup that sounds like a perfect recipe!  We spent the day on the beach near Marbella.

It was fun seeing all the kite surfers.  We stopped for a while to watch how they start out.  They are harnessed to the large kite and  walk into the water holding it.  They get their feet set into the board and when the wind pulls the kite, they just pop out of the water and start surfing.  Sometimes, the kite pulls them several feet into the air.  It looks pretty awesome.

We walked several miles up and down the beach and collected little treasures like shells and pretty rocks.  Before we left the beach we laid out all our treasures.  Then we all voted on several categories.  Summer won for best natural treasure, she found a piece of driftwood will lots of little shell creatures on it.  Luie won for most colorful treasure.  He found a shell with a deep purple inside.    Summer won for best rocks. Luie won for best toy, a little super ball.  Summer won for most valuable, she found a 10 cent coin.  I won for most unique, a little plastic toy head that had eyes that bulged out.  Dave didn’t win anything, but he found a long piece of bamboo that he used as a walking stick, and he found a little plastic molded toy person.  It was a fun day!
