This sweet little dog grew as attached to us as we did to her.  Even knowing that she would only be with us for a little while did not prevent us from falling in love with her.  Such an affectionate little girl and always so quiet we never heard her bark.  When we would take her for walks, she would whimper if one of the family walked too far away, or stayed behind to take a photo while the rest of us walked on.  She wanted the whole family to stay together.  Summer, who took most of the responsibility of the dog, was Saffron’s favorite person.  There seemed to be a magnetic link between Summer and Saffron.

We tearfully said goodbye to Saffron when we left Spain.  She is scheduled on a flight to Germany where a family is already waiting for her.  We are keeping in touch with the people who do all the work to help so many stray dogs in Spain find homes.   Saffron’s new family will also be given our email address, so we can keep up with her.  Abandoned or stray dogs and cats are very prevalent in Spain.  I was touched and inspired by the people who donate their time and money to help these animals.  As a matter of fact, I am planning to write a short children’s ebook about Saffron with a link to the charity.  We are very grateful to these people, for all their work and especially for helping our sweet little Saffron find a family.

Good bye may seem forever. Farewell is like the end, but in my heart is the memory and there you will always be.
