Written by Dave:  Well, its Thanksgiving time again.  This year we are spending it in Spain where Thanksgiving doesn’t exist.  We decided that when in Spain, it only makes sense to do a tapas Thanksgiving.  We shopped around the small markets in our little village, and gathered up the ingredients to do it right.  Everyone got involved in the preparation, and it turned out wonderful.  Nobody missed the Turkey, stuffing, or mashed potatoes.  Ok, maybe Summer missed the mashed potatoes.  However, she did get potatoes sauteed with onions, and she loved them as we all did.  One thing we were excited to try was the fresh steamed artichoke.  The artichoke is fresh picked, soft and fantastic.  Even Luie got into slowly eating our way into the heart for the ultimate finale.  Nancy made a special creamy garlic dip to go with the artichoke, and it was a real hit.  Nancy and Summer put together a fresh tomato and basil salad with balsamic and olive oil.  Summer made some orange and dark chocolate cupcakes for desert, and they were quite good.  It really was fun to do something totally different.  This is what the feast looked like.

Afterwords we went around the table telling what we were thankful for.  Ultimately, we are all thankful to slow down with our family, reconnect, and grow together.  Thanksgiving with Mediterranean views is a wonderful experience.

  2. Artichokes are Emi’s favorite food. I’m sure she’d have gladly given up the traditional foods for those artichokes.
