Not so many years ago, back in college, we had a classmate named Carol.  She was tall blond, loud, and hilariously fun!

Now, she has a tall, blond, loud, and hilariously fun family!  And we were thrilled that they were able to come and visit us in Spain!

We took them to the little hilltop village of Iznajar, Spain.

The kids got along together amazingly well.

Soaking up the sun and playing cards.

petanque

A rousing game of Petanque with our Scottish friends and neighbors.  I love what Carol said, “The Scots vs. the Americans playing a French game in Spain!”

both families

This was their first time in Spain.  There are a lot of different things to get used to in a new country.  This can be intimidating or off putting for many people.  But I loved how Carol’s whole family was so willing to try new things, talk to the locals, soak up the culture, and eat new foods.

We had so much fun, catching up, laughing, and eating, that the time just flew by.  I am already thinking ahead to next spring.  Wonder if I can find a place in Central America big enough for the 10 of us.  Or maybe New Zealand, hmmm…….

    1. Carol, you have such a wonderful family and we loved every minute that you were here! We were a sad and lonely bunch after you left. I am so glad you guys are spontaneous and adventurous enough to make that big trip.
