The road from Tuba City to Page, Arizona is surrounded by striped hills and changing landscapes.  Look at the colors in those hills!

Shortly before you get to Page, AZ there is a green sign that says Horseshoe Bend Overlook.  We could easily have passed by with our destination in mind.  But before leaving the Grand Canyon, I talked to the manager at the campground office.  She told us to make sure we stopped at this overlook.  She also gave us a map and recommended a stop at Tuba City.  It always pays to stop and talk to people.  We would have missed out otherwise.

Notice Dave in the yellow t-shirt on the right side of the photo.  Much too close to the edge for my peace of mind.  But the photo below is the stunning view of the Colorado River as it meanders around Horseshoe Bend.

There are no rails along the edge and it made me pretty nervous.  I kept the kids farther from the edge.  But Dave kept getting closer to get a good picture.  It really upset me having him that close.  I was afraid he would lose his balance while looking through the camera.  Since we got there close to sunset, the sun was in an unfortunate position.  A sunrise photo would have been awesome.  Dave kept trying to get me to go back so he could get an early morning shot.  But I refused.  The thought of him getting that close to the edge was just too nerve wracking.
